Race or Color Harassment Attorneys
What is Race or Color Harassment?
The law prohibits harassment at work because of an individual’s race or color. Racial and color harassment occurs when someone makes offensive and derogatory comments, or racial slurs about an employee’s race or color. It is also harassment if someone displays racially-offensive symbols in the workplace. Racial and color harassment is illegal when it is so frequent or severe that it creates a hostile work environment.
Who Can Be the Harasser?
Anyone in the workplace. The harasser can be a boss or supervisor, a boss or supervisor from another department, an individual’s co-workers, or even someone who does not work for the company. It can be harassment if a client, customer, or vendor who spends time at the workplace is the one making offensive, disrespectful, or hurtful comments about race. Employer knowledge is often key in these types of cases.
