Portal-to-Portal Act of 1947
The Portal-to-Portal Act exempts time spent traveling to and from work from the Fair Labor Standards Act’s compensable hours requirements. The Portal-to-Portal Act was enacted as an amendment to the Fair Labor Standards Act and also established, among other things, a statute of limitations of 2 years (and 3 years for willful violations) for claims of unpaid wages, overtime compensation, or liquidated damages.
